Game maps in real life: a free app for your real roads
Overworld Maps puts a game map in real life. It's a navigation app that gives turn-by-turn directions on the roads around you and draws them in the style of GTA V, Red Dead 2 or GTA VI. It's free, it runs on Android Auto, and it has no ads and no subscription.

What a game map in real life looks like
The roads stay real and only the look changes. Overworld's roads come from OpenStreetMap, so you navigate your own city, not Los Santos. The whole map is redrawn in the game's style: the land, roads, buildings, water, route and HUD. You don't need to own any game, and there's nothing to play. You're just driving.
The three worlds
- GTA V style: near-black land, flat grey roads and one purple route.
- Red Dead 2 style: parchment and ink, dotted railways, pencil place names and a red trail.
- GTA VI style: a steep 3D view, raised buildings, lane dashes and a pink route that follows the sun.
You can switch between them at any time, on the phone or from the car screen.
What's free
All of it. There are no ads, no subscription, no in-app purchases and no account, and all three worlds are included. The code is public to read on GitHub.
Made for the car
Overworld was built for Android Auto. It runs as a navigation app on the car screen, with a game-style HUD holding your next turn, speed, the limit sign and road alerts. It has been driven in a Tata Curvv, a Tata Nexon and a Volkswagen Virtus GT. The Android Auto guide has the setup steps. It also works on the phone alone.
It's a real navigation app
Search finds places by name, and trips come with live traffic on your route and voice guidance when you turn it on. If you take a wrong turn, it reroutes within seconds. The game look sits on top of a working sat-nav, so you can use it on your daily drive.
What it can't do yet
Overworld is Android only for now, so there's no iPhone or Apple CarPlay version. It needs a data connection, and it's for driving, not walking or public transport. The side-by-side guide has the full list.
