Overworld Maps GTA V
GTA V's map.
Your roads.
The pause map, laid over the streets around you: near-black land, flat grey roads, ice-pale water, no labels and one purple route.

How it looks,
and why
GTA V's pause map suits a car screen for a simple reason: it is nearly all contrast. Dark land drops back, pale roads stand forward, and the only coloured thing on screen is the way you're going.
Overworld's colours were measured from the game's own map: land #1E1E1E, roads #B5B5B5, water #BCC7CD, and the route in the game's waypoint purple, #A44CF2. Nothing is labelled, so you read the city by its shapes, the way you do in the game.

- The map
- Near-black land, flat grey roads with no outlines, grey building blocks and ice-pale water. No green and no labels, like the pause map.
- The route
- Flat waypoint purple with no outline. The road already driven disappears behind the marker, as it does on the game's radar.
- The camera
- The radar's gentle tilt while you drive. The map pulls back on a fast straight road and comes in before a turn.
- The HUD
- A GTA-style turn card, time card and speedometer on the car screen. Settings is the pause menu, and the area name and scale sit in the map's corner.
- Your places
- Home, Work and starred places stand on the map as a safehouse, a briefcase and a star. Tap one to open it.
- The speed
- Your speed and the limit sign turn red at 5 km/h over the limit.

Los Santos is modelled on Los Angeles, so that's the place to start. This is the app's real map style, running in your browser.

About this
world
Is this the actual GTA V map?
No. The roads are real, from OpenStreetMap. Only the look comes from the game, so you navigate your own city, not Los Santos.
Can I use a GTA V map on Android Auto?
Yes. Overworld Maps runs on the Android Auto screen as a navigation app, and the GTA V look is one of its three worlds.
Do I need to own GTA V?
No. Overworld Maps is a separate app, and you don't need the game to use it.
